140 workers to loose jobs by September 18th

Major update: July 27, 2011 12:16 pm

Major Update:  Target set to rehire all hourly workers.

September 18, 2011 is going to be a sad day in the lives of the 140 people working at the Target Distribution Center in Lake City, Florida.

In a certified letter dated July 12, 2011, Donna L. Nasca, SuperValu's Human Resource Manager notified Tallahassee of its intention to "cease its operations and implement a reduction-in-force at the distribution facility located at 3049 N. US 441, Lake City, Florida..."

The letter continued, "The facility itself will not be permanently closed, but the company expects the layoffs from SUPERVALU Logistics to be permanent."

"The Company plans to effectuate the layoffs affecting a total of one-hundred-forty (140) employees and the permanent layoffs from SUPERVALU Logistics will go into effect on September 18, 2011."

"Pursuant to the WARN Act, to the extent that such laws are applicable, the company has provided each of the affected employees whom the company reasonably expects will experience an employment loss with 60 days advance notice of this reduction in force."

FloridaCrown Workforce has been notified and is moving into action.
