Doyle Crews explains the fine points of property
appraisal.
COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL – Doyle Crews, Columbia County's popular long time Property Appraiser updated the Property Appraiser's website yesterday afternoon adding links on the home page regarding TRIM Notices and exemptions after the Observer pointed out the difficulty folks have in Columbia County, as well as many other counties, accessing that information.
Yesterday morning, during a conference call with Property Appraiser Crews and Assistant Property Appraiser Jeff Hampton, Mr. Hampton said, "We encourage anyone who has a question regarding their property appraisals to come to our office and sit down with us. Sometimes we come to an agreement and sometimes we don't. When we don't, we're sure to tell them what they can and can't do."

Appeals/VAB: Deadline is Sept. 6th
Property Appraiser Crews added, "By the end of the day, you look at my website. You will see not only something on the Value Adjustment Board (VAB) but also other information that will be helpful to Columbia County residents."
At 1:26 pm Mr. Hampton emailed the Observer, "Stew, we added some helpful info on our web-site. See the tab on the left side titled VAB or you can click on the info in red that says TRIM Notices Have Been Mailed . . . more info."
The clock is ticking. If you can't come to an agreement with Mr. Crews, September 6th is the last day to file a petition to the VAB to appeal your property appraisal.
