Florida Gateway College Bachelor of Science Nursing Program Receives National Accreditation

COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL – The Bachelor of Science in nursing program at Florida Gateway College (FGC) is now nationally accredited. The accreditation was awarded by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

FGC began offering the RN-BSN degree in the fall of 2012. Students who enroll in the program have the opportunity to attend full time or part time. All classes are offered online with three courses requiring minimal clinical hours.

Melody Corso, Executive Director of Nursing and Health Sciences at FGC said, “We are pleased that Florida Gateway College has earned this prestigious accreditation, and I know our students will benefit from this national recognition.”

The RN-BSN program is designed for the associate degree nursing graduate who has a current Registered Nursing (RN) license. The mission of the RN-BSN program is to provide registered nurses with a baccalaureate nursing education, which includes community and population focused care, leadership, management and research learning experiences. Graduates will be prepared to implement critical decision making and leadership skills while providing and designing safe, quality care for patients with complex health care needs and to assume professional roles within a variety of health care settings. This program is not a limited access program.

Applicants must have at a minimum an AS degree in Nursing awarded from a regionally accredited institution and a current, valid, unrestricted, unencumbered Florida RN license.

New students can begin in either the fall or spring semesters. The deadline to enroll for the fall 2016 term is August 11.
