Lake City Airport Terminal Project - City
looking for 95% funding from FAA
With the Assistance of Passero Associates, an
application was submitted early this week to the
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requesting
grant funding for Airport site improvements,
security fence upgrades, access road
improvements, and a 14,860 SF Apron expansion.
These improvements are associated with the
new terminal project and the application to FAA
is to fund 95% of the construction costs of
$884,503.20.
The Staff anticipates a favorable response to
be received from FAA before the end of April
2010.
If approved, Staff will formulate a
construction budget for presentation to Council
along with a recommendation for contract award
during April.
Blanche Hotel - structural evaluation
getting closer
A site visit from Jones Edmunds Engineering
(JE) representatives is scheduled to finalize
arrangements for a structural assessment of the
Blanche.
The JE Engineer will perform the preliminary
site assessment on January 28, 2010 in
conjunction with another evaluation by the City
Fire Marshall and Building Official.
A formal services proposal will be prepared
by JE for City Council consideration and action
on February 15, 2010.
Bond Debt - staff review continues
As I reported last week, the Staff continues
the evaluation of the City’s bond refunding
opportunities and capital financing needs.
As of this report, current market conditions
and upcoming early redemption provisions of the
City’s existing bonds allow the option to refund
and restructure most existing debt, while
facilitating the issuance of new money debt to
fund need capital needs within the general fund
and sewer utilities system.
A proposal will be made to the City Council
for consideration on February 15, 2010.
Annual Employee Awards Banquet getting
closer
The City awards banquet will be held this
coming Friday, January
29th, at the Country Club from
7:00 – 11:00 p.m.
