Columbia County's veteran IT Director, Todd Manning, tendered his resignation this past Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Mr. Manning was the man in charge as the County upgraded its computer network into the 21st century.
Mr. Manning's resignation letter was short and to the point.
I would like to inform you that I am resigning my position of Network Specialist for the Columbia County Board of County Commissioners effective February 10, 2012
I would like to thank the Board of County Commissioners and staff for the professional and personal development you have provided me during the last 12 years. I have enjoyed working for the BCC and appreciated the support provided me during my tenure.
Earlier today, County Manager Dale Williams told the Observer, "We will be advertising the position. The salary will be negotiable and will probably be somewhere in the 50's to the 60's."
It appears that the county was not expecting this and will be upgrading the job description.
County Manager Williams added, "If a person comes along that just blows our socks off. If they have the education and background and all that; if we really want him or her - we'll talk."
Columbia County's HR Director is Michele Crummitt.
Ms. Crummitt's' e-mail is: michele_crummitt@columbiacountyfla.com
Mr. Manning did not return the Observer's phone call.
