LAKE CITY/COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL – Today, December 31, 2013, Karl Burkhardt's Lake City Journal, an online news outlet goes off the air. For ten years, Mr. Burkhardt has been bringing Lake City and Columbia County the "good" news of the area, along with traffic reports, legal notices, DOT road closings, reports on flowers, and the press releases of various governmental agencies.
Mr. Burkhardt worked hard to make sure that the areas
public officials were seen in a good light.
His upbeat attitude and unique perspective on the news was appreciated by many. While investigative reporting was not the Journal's forte, this fact was appreciated by many of those in power in Florida's infamous Columbia County and the Journal became a source for Lake City/Columbia County good news.
Mr. Burkhardt financed the Lake City Journal and is to be commended for his dedication to the area. His brand of news and the Lake City Journal will be missed by many.
It is not clear if the Journal will remain online as a source of Columbia County's past news.
