COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL –  Representative Chuck Brannan (R-Macclenny) and Senator Jennifer Bradley (R-Flemming Island) will be on-hand in Columbia County tomorrow afternoon at the annual legislative delegation hearing.

The legislative delegation holds a public hearing each year prior to the legislative session.

Callout: Columbia County will be broadcasting and posting the meeting on You TubeLocal officials, members of the public, and other interested parties have the opportunity to present legislative proposals, funding requests, or express opinions on state and regional issues.

Chairman of the delegation, Representative Brannan, said in his press release, "Senator Bradley and I look forward to hearing from community leaders and constituents of Columbia County as we develop our legislative priorities for the 2021 Session."

The delegation meetings begin with the delegation members introducing themselves, after which they hear from the Constitutional Officers, who wish to address the delegation: Sherriff, Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, and Clerk of the Court.

The elected multi-county officials, State Attorney and Public Defender may also appear.

Generally, these officials come before the delegation to ask for money or alert the delegation of special circumstances.

Lake City is on tap to be asking for support for free money to renovate airport hangers, which they have allowed to run down, and are also looking for money for fire-suppression systems so that HAECO can compete for military contracts.

The Town of Fort White is scheduled to be asking for money for their water system. However, the water system is in flux, with the County and City also proposing to provide water to the town.

The County may be hawking support of a "waterpipe" proposal. The Town Council has not been presented with any options, and sources say that former County Manager Dale Williams is behind County support of the "water pipe."

The delegation hearing begins at 2 pm tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Columbia County School Board Administrative Complex, 372 West Duval Street, Lake City, Florida.
