Chrissy Meyer with the American Heart Association said red sets the tone for the month.
"We will be encouraging everyone to wear red, and help us celebrate American Heart Month."
						Meyer
says heart disease is the number-one killer for women,
but that women often ignore the warning signs of heart
						disease.

"More women die of heart disease than all forms of
cancer combined," she said. "Only one in five women
actually knows that heart disease is her greatest health
						threat."

Meyer said they want to send messages all month to women
about taking care of their health and their hearts.

"We want to make sure that we're getting the word out,
letting people know about their risks, encouraging them
to get a heart screening, to get checked, and to really
make some decisions to impact their overall heart
						health."

According to the American Heart Association, 90 percent
of women have one or more risk factors for developing
						heart disease.

So far, 1.6 million women nationwide have registered
						with the "Go Red" campaign.
