Lake City shines as host for Suwannee River League of Cities
Columbia County, FL (Posted July 9, 2010 009:25 am)
Lake City put its best foot forward last night as it hosted the monthly Suwannee River League of Cities dinner. Municipal members from the counties of Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union, as well as Lynn Banister from Senator Bill Nelson's office and representative Debbie Boyd packed the room to listen to the Board do its work and network among its members.
One of the highlights of the evening was the cooking mastery of Lake City's own Councilman, Jake Hill - the Barbeque King, who personally barbequed 80 pounds of chicken and a ton of ribs, which left the members looking forward to the next time they return to Lake City.

the success of the North Florida Broadband Authority. He
told the group that the region was a year ahead of
schedule in bringing broadband internet access to the
fourteen rural counties involved in the project. "I
can't imagine a better internet. This is 21st century
infrastructure" he said.
Representative
Debbie Boyd, a true North Florida country girl, updated
the group on the recent legislative events in
Tallahassee.
