widget-city-manager-storiesLAKE CITY, FL – As the Lake City City Manager search shifts into its last two days, keeping up with the final schedule may, at times, be confusing. The schedule has been revised five times in the past month, and the month is not over.

Tomorrow, April 25, the two candidates, Police Chief Butler and Assistant County Administrator Rosenthal, will embark on another tour. This time, they will be accompanied by Interim City Manager Dee Johnson from 8:30 am to 11:30 pm. The purpose of this tour is to familiarize the candidates with City facilities, a crucial aspect of their potential role as City Manager.

The candidates meet individually with City Department Directors from 1:00 – 3:00 pm.

After a two-and-a-half-hour break, they eat cheese and crackers with a few members of the public for an hour.

As previously reported, Mayor Witt declined the opportunity to present a Meet & Greet combined with a formal question and answer period for the public. This decision was made in consideration of the candidates' time and the need for a more structured evaluation process. This would have given the public and the Council members an opportunity to judge the candidates in a realistic setting while addressing the folks who pay the taxes and who pay the salaries.

On Friday, April 26, the candidates’ day begins at 8:30 am with private, out-of-the-public-eye interviews between the candidates and the Council members.

Friday afternoon culminates in public questioning by the Council – an hour for each candidate, beginning with Chief Butler.

At approximately 3:00 pm on Friday, the Council will decide on the next Lake City City Manager.

The Complete Schedule: One gets dizzy just reading it.
