Santa Fe River On The Rise
Posted June 29, 2012 06:55 am
Late yesterday afternoon, the Santa Fe River had over flowed its banks by at least fifty feet as it wove it way through south Columbia County and Alachua County. The river has been closed to boating, as the water is quickly approaching the bottom of the bridges in the south end of Columbia County. The water is expected to rise for at least another day or two.

The sign welcoming visitors to River Rise Resort tells
the story of the rising waters. Before the rains, it was
on high ground.

The main house at River Rise is on stilts. Look to the
right of the big tree in the foreground. This was dry
land a few days ago.
